Last year I was in a car accident with several family members in California. It was at night with heavy rain and someone ran into us on the freeway, sending our car spinning and then smashing into a concrete barrier. I was in the hospital and rehabilitation for 6 weeks. When I was able to go home I still used a walker and had to be pushed through the airport in a wheelchair. It was the end of March then. I spent a lot of April sitting on the couch or sleeping. When May came I was ready to get back to birding. I still used the walker but it was soon replaced by one that had 4 wheels and a seat, loaned to me by a good friend. Warblers, being one of my favorite groups, would be coming soon but I still could not walk very far and I got nauseated when I looked up. How was I going to enjoy these tiny colorful birds? We continued going to the park and walking every day and gradually I did better. All this to explain this painting "Warblers Carrying" I wanted to thank the birds for pulling me away from the couch and getting me outside and moving. I feel certain that if my recuperation had been at any other time of year it would have been a lot slower.
