Pond Photos Page One

The folks who owned our home before us were interested in birds and tried to attract them with bird feeders, shelter (nice habitat), and a pond.  We had no previous experience with water features and were quickly impressed by how attractive the pond was to birds.  Efforts to photograph birds at the pond were ineffective until this spring, when our friend, Vicki Rothman, made some modifications.  Although her intent was simply to block the plastic chute from view and make the pond more aesthetically appealing, her work also resulted in shallower pools and a gentler water flow, which proved more attractive to warblers.  Betsy also made a portable blind, which enabled her to get much closer to the birds, especially warblers, and Willie attempted to digiscope from the deck.  Following are some of our more successful shots, roughly in order of appearance.
